Love in Action is a part of the Equippers Christchurch People Care Team. It's our aim to do our best to make sure the needs of the people in our community are taken care of.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Have you ever wondered what a community could look like when we all work together to ensure everyone is cared for? We do. There are a few bible verses that really catch our imagination of what community could be like and the things that God takes pleasure in. Two of those verses are in Acts:<\/span><\/p>

They devoted themselves to the apostles\u2019 teaching\u00a0and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread\u00a0and to prayer.<\/span>\u00a0Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.<\/span>\u00a0All the believers were together and had everything in common.<\/span>\u00a0They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.<\/span>\u00a0Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts.\u00a0They broke bread\u00a0in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,<\/span>\u00a0praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.\u00a0And the Lord added to their number\u00a0daily those who were being saved.<\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>

Acts 2:42-47<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>

We love the imagery of the unity of the church displayed here, especially how it talks about having everything in common and selling property or possessions to give to anyone in need. It’s a sacrificial love that the community had for each other. The second Acts passage is:All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.<\/span>\u00a0With great power the apostles continued to testify\u00a0to the resurrection\u00a0of the Lord Jesus. And God\u2019s grace\u00a0was so powerfully at work in them all<\/span>\u00a0that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them,\u00a0brought the money from the sales<\/span>\u00a0and put it at the apostles\u2019 feet,\u00a0and it was distributed to anyone who had need.<\/span><\/em><\/p>

Acts 4:32-35<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

Again, the imagery of being one in heart and mind, sharing everything, and God’s grace being powerfully at work gets our imagination working overtime about the potential of what a community like this could look like.<\/p>

This is our vision – to see people love and support others knowing that if they have a need it will be met by the community. To see a community who so naturally cares for each other that they draw others in simply by the way they live.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Simply put: we aim to look after those in our community who are in need. This can take on many forms but right now we’re focused on providing meals.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
